How do you tailgate when you’re rushing to Candlestick Park from work, with no time to spare? You order take-out food and get rid of the grill of course?
This game didn’t land on a Sunday.
Weekday games are always fun. Maybe it’s the idea of playing hooky or leaving work early that makes them more exciting. Maybe it’s the lights that shine at night throughout the stadium and the even colder breeze from the bay. Or maybe it’s prime time football at it’s finest.
Whatever it is, night games are intense and we were there!
For those of you who don’t already know, I work with an amazing crew: Play Action Shoot.
Play Action Shoot has one goal in mind: cover every play, every down, at every 49ers game.
Any photo taken on the field has a story & our job is to tell it. With each click on the camera, we strive to capture that rare moment. We provide a visual for those memories & emotions one felt while watching a game. Photography allows us to take the storyline of a team’s season; that includes their efforts, obstacles, accomplishments, triumphs, and heart.
As a crew, lead by 49ers team photographer Terrell Lloyd, we will take you behind the lens & show you what it really takes to cover a game.
That’s right! We’re having an art show next Friday at my favorite shop: Cukui! Come by & check it out! Hope to see you there!
With back-to-back San Francisco 49ers home games this entire month, expect tons of pictures coming your way on my blog!
My long-time friend, Justin, only wanted three things for his birthday: family, friends, and 49ers football. Everyone came together to give him exactly what he wanted. We had a big group with us, celebrating at the birthday boy’s tailgate. Good food and great company. Fun, fun, fun!
So prepare to keep scrolling down the page, because I got a lot of pictures up on this one. A LOT! Enjoy!
49ers vs Vikings (September 23, 2012) – Photo by Terrell Lloyd & edited by Melissa Datu
I wanted to share my first official post on Play Action Shoot! Since the rest of the crew (Terrell & Kym) are currently working at the 49ers/Jets game, I didn’t want to sit on the couch and do nothing.
So this is how I spent my Sunday.
I edited pictures and blogged at home, while the crew is away at the game. I wanted to contribute one way or another. Check it out!
The place was packed (more than usual), due to the fact that the 49ers just came off an amazing 2011-2012 season. Even though I only hung out for a couple hours, since I had to be on the field for work; I still had a great time.
This is not a recap. It’s more of a reaction post.
I refuse to spit out stats and numbers on this one. You can look that up elsewhere. But, I will give props when props are due, and frankly the San Francisco 49ers deserve just that.
Some may think that I’m looking through “red and gold” glasses when sharing my opinions, because I’m a 49ers fan. But I like to think the opposite. I can be biased at times; however, I try to take that out of my writing.
I’m the type of person who hates surprises. Call me a bit of a control freak, but every part of me needs to know the basic who, what, when, and how. That’s just me.
However, last year’s 49ers season wasn’t expected at all and this time I can’t complain.
No one could have called it. They had a depressing 6-10 record the year before and no real sign of hope in the near future. Confronted with an NFL lockout, made it even more difficult to stay optimistic.
